About Us

Cyclerie started out as a kids' cycling education program. Our mission has always been to get more kids on bikes! Now, we're striving to get more families and the community on bikes via our new retail store in Downtown Erie.

Cyclerie is a new community bike shop in Erie, CO. We’re the local hub for all things cycling and the epitome of that welcoming, knowledgeable place where every cyclist - beginner or advanced- wants to be. 

The goal for opening our store is to welcome all levels of cyclists.  We also strive to create new cyclists and break down the barriers that may make the non-cyclist feel intimidated or unwelcome.

Studies show psychological benefits of spending time in nature and outdoors, and that's what we love most about the bike - you can pedal and see so much, all the while decompressing and refreshing your mindset! For kids, that window of time might be biking to/from school or to a local restaurant with your family or just to a friend's house - the freedom of being able to get place to place on your own is empowering and builds confidence! Outdoor adventure also teaches kids about risks and how to regulate the emotions they experience during these activities. Our goal for our camps is to help the future generation feel empowered through the sport while getting outside.

 

About the founders:

Jenny Johnson

Jenny is the founder of Cyclerie. She and her family are avid cyclists and adventurers. She is a wife to her favorite bike mechanic and mom to 3 girls in Erie, CO, and they love where they live.

We need more kids on bikes!  Colorado has many sunny days, it's no wonder it's a cyclist's haven.  BUT - a lot of kiddos could start biking sooner than they currently do.  I want to connect our community via bikes, as it provides families an activity they can do together, helps build character, it alleviates car traffic around schools, and the list goes on....

Jenny likes to mountain bike, road bike, gravel bike, and race cyclocross.  Her first priority is always family, but she loves getting in the saddle whenever she can. Cycling has become a family sport for her family, as it's something we can enjoy together without much effort or planning involved.  

 

 

Dan Gump

Dan Gump was introduced to Cyclerie in 2022 as a coach for summer camps. With 5 years of coaching in the Colorado High School Mountain Bike League, naturally he fit right in to our vision. He has coached with Cyclerie adventure bike and mountain bike programs, basically built the retail store, and he is also the main reason we’re offering SKI services!
