From Briggs Street we're on the Coal Creek Trail in about a block. From there we follow it south through the open space between Erie and Lafayette and roll into Acreage. The climbing is a slow, steady grade on the way out, so the ride home is a little easier.

Ride the Coal Creek Trail to cider, on us
CyclErie is sponsoring a free, kid-friendly group ride from our Erie shop to Acreage by Stem Ciders. eBikes and regular bikes welcome.
Last summer we hosted our first family bike ride through Erie's trails and parks, and the most common thing we heard afterward was "when's the next one?" Here it is. On Saturday, November 7, we're teaming up with our friends at camaradERIE for the Coal Creek Cider Cycle, an easy family ride from our shop in Old Town Erie down the Coal Creek Trail to Acreage by Stem Ciders.
Registration is free, and CyclErie is covering shared appetizers at Acreage for the first 25 riders who RSVP. Kids count as riders, so put the whole crew on your registration.
Who it's for
Every bike, every age
This isn't a race or a training ride. It's a social pace built so families can ride together, talk, and stop when somebody needs a snack.
- Kids are encouraged. Bring them on their own bikes, in a child seat, in a trailer or on the back of a cargo bike.
- eBikes and regular bikes ride together. Nobody gets dropped and we keep the group together.
- New to group rides? Perfect. This is about as easy and friendly as they get.

Why we do this
The easiest way to get the family outside
Erie has some of the best family riding on the Front Range, and the Coal Creek Trail is the backbone of it. It's almost all off-street, it connects parks and neighborhoods, and it gets you into open space without loading bikes on the car.
A group ride is the easiest way to get kids (and grown-ups) to ride a little farther than usual. There are other kids to ride with, there's safety in numbers, and there's a snack waiting at the end. It's a great way to build confidence for new riders, find out what your eBike can really do on a longer trip, or just meet some neighbors.
Riding is low-impact, works for nearly every fitness level, and gets everybody off screens and outside together. If you've been meaning to make bikes part of your family's routine, this is a good place to start.
Before you roll
What to bring
- A bike in good working order (or come at 10 for a free safety check)
- Helmets for everybody
- Water and layers. November mornings start cold and warm up fast
- Whatever the kids need for the day
Want to get the bikes ready first? Our service team can tune them up before Saturday. Thinking about a family eBike or cargo bike? Book a free test ride on the Coal Creek Trail.
Better together
Thanks to camaradERIE and Acreage
Partnering with camaradERIE and Acreage lets us make this one bigger than our last family ride: a longer route, a great destination, and a chance to hang out together at the finish. We're proud to sponsor it and can't wait to see you out there.
