Colorado's new eBike tax credit aims to incentivize residents to buy eBikes, but it creates a cash flow hurdle for small businesses. The state requires retailers to upfront the tax credit amount to customers at the time of purchase, but then reimburses the business later. This means small businesses have to shoulder the cost of the credit until they get paid back, which can strain their finances. Shops with low profit margins on eBikes could find this wait particularly difficult.
